TEKST DOSTĘPNY TAKŻE PO POLSKU
I traveled
to Torremolinos several times, last time in summer of 2013. This small summer
resort is located on the Mediterranean cost, close to Malaga. It’s a big
advantage because low cost airlines Ryanair offer direct flight from Cracow to
Malaga. Moreover, the town is not so popular among rich tourists from
Scandinavia or Germany, so the prices are reasonable and a visit to a restaurant
or pub don’t ruin your budget.
Getting there
It’s
extremely easy to get to Torremolinos from the Malaga airport. Leave the
arrival hall and go straight to the near-by platform. Take line C-1 operated by
Cercanías; trains go every 20 minutes, during off-peak hours – less frequently;
a trip takes approx. 15 minutes; ticket: 1,70€.
Cercanías station
is located in the center of Torremolinos.

Accommodation
and food
I used
various forms of accommodation. When I traveled there for the first time, I had
to search a bit to find something not expensive. I chose a pension called Beatriz
located more or less in the middle of the road between a center and a seaside promenade.
Several years ago we paid for a comfortable double room with a small balcony,
bathroom and a fridge 50€. This summer we’ve rented a small flat via Airbnb
site and it went much cheaper: 24€ a night. We had a small flat divided into
several parts: living room area, bedroom and a kitchen, as well as a bathroom
at our disposal. It was a hit! At the main road of the town, close to the
center, close to several grocery stores, including a cheap butcher’s run by
sympathetic emigrants from Algeria. Thank to this we spared a lot of money,
preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner by ourselves.
There are a
lot of restaurants, pizzerias and cafes in the center. The prices are
reasonable. The ones who want to spare money can find here a place with a
one-dish lunch for not more than 10€. Of course, it’s more expensive than in a
milk bar in Cracow, but as for Spain not so expensive.
Beaches
I won’t
elaborate on this, because a whole cost in Torremolinos is covered by beaches,
with a rich gastronomic infrastructure where everyone can find something for
themselves, cafes, pubs etc. If anyone wants to use a sunbed or a beach
umbrella they won’t have any problems with renting such things.
Nightlife
Torremolinos
offers lots of pubs and discos, but who want to entertain in Ibiza style they
will be disappointed. Some of the premises in the Nogalera is geared towards
gay clientele.
A beer
costs 1-2€, so it won’t ruin your wallet; the prices of drinks vary, usually
about 5-7€. You pay to enter to some discos, the price usually includes a beer
or a drink. Some more elegant places are more expensive.
Attractions
There are
not many attractions in the vicinities of Torremolinos, but majority of the
tourists come here for its beautiful beaches and sun. For those who seek other
attractions, local travel agencies offer trips to Malaga (it’s better to go by
yourself), boat trips, motorboat trips etc. You can also visit a dolphinarium.
The
attraction in itself is hanging out in one of the cafes in the main square of
the city, watching idly strolling tourists and locals, or looking for souvenirs
and trinkets at dozens of stalls (majority of them was probably made in
China).
